OUR CURRENT PROJECTS
Achieving Sustainability through Recycling
Siyakholwa has introduced a pioneering project to its list of programmes, aimed at inspiring families and communities to adopt environmental stewardship in their daily lives. This initiative emphasises the critical importance of individuals being mindful of their actions and their impact on the environment.
At the heart of this project are innovative recycling and upcycling programmes designed to significantly reduce waste that would otherwise contribute to landfills. Siyakholwa’s partnership, serving as a pilot project, is forged with buy-back centres strategically located in and around East London in the Eastern Cape.
Through the Social Employment Fund, dedicated employees are empowered to actively participate in collecting recyclable materials and delivering them to the buy-back centres. The funds generated from these efforts are channelled into a dedicated account, supporting Siyakholwa’s vital First 1000 Days Nutritional Programme, which plays a crucial role in promoting healthy nutrition among mothers and their young children.
We are pleased with the strong response and engagement from our communities in adopting sustainable practices.
This initiative demonstrates our commitment to promoting a healthier and more environmentally conscious society. It also highlights our dedication to driving meaningful change and invites individuals and organisations to collaborate with us in creating a more sustainable future.
Siyakholwa’s innovative approach not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also supports essential programmes that benefit the community. By leveraging recycling and upcycling, we are able to create a positive impact on both the environment and people’s lives.
