The Siyakholwa Development Foundation is geared to building sustainable enterprises and projects. We promote a pardigm where instead of people and communities relying on donors or sponsors for sustenance, they work on jobs where revenue is created and they ultimately develop their own income, becoming self-reliant.

In the Eastern Cape alone around 7100 people take part in the Siyakholwa Development Foundation (SDF), which is in essence a community work programme comprised of various projects.

The aim is to break the cycle of poverty. The impact of this project sees dignity and a sense of purpose restored to those participating in the SDF programme. People are given a work experience, not only changing their economic outlook but changing the family life at home as bread-winners are better able to provide for those they love.

The Siyakholwa Development Foundation is overseen by Dale Eland and Odwa Njoba.

Siyakholwa Development Foundation was chosen as the site to launch Phase 3 of the Expanded Public Works Programme on the 3rd of October 2014. Over 3000 people were in attendance for this event and SDF was privileged to host the President of South Africa, Ministers of Parliament, and numbers of government leaders. SDF was acknowledged by the President as a model site in the country.

The Kamoso Awards for the best Community Work Programme project in the country, was won by Siyakholwa Development Foundation in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

networx leadership trainingNetworx is the Siyakholwa Education and Training programme and is passionate about helping people, organizations and communities reach their full potential through training, multiple skills development, mentoring, and leadership development. The head office is based in East London, and satellite offices in Gauteng and Cape Town.

South Africa is a country grappling with 28 percent unemployment, one of the highest AIDS rates in the world and a disenfranchised and uneducated poor population. With rampant AIDS, poverty and unemployment, South Africa’s problems are beyond what government programs or policies can solve alone; change must also occur from the grassroots level, through private enterprise, entrepreneurship and spiritual transformation.

Networx Training Foundation recognize that although progress has been made in the fight against poverty, rural development remains a challenge in South Africa and at the centre of this mountain is education and training for rural people. As the vast majority of our population are either school leavers or those who could not gain access to tertiary institutions, Networx identified the need to provide affordable education, training and skills courses that meet with the relevant standards & qualifications as required by the South African Qualification Authority.

With this in mind Networx a separate training arm was established in March 2013 and Networx Training Foundation was accredited and registered as a training provider with the Education Training and Development Sector (ETDP) SETA. This training offers communities a variety of both accredited and non-accredited training interventions that are both academically sound and practically relevant. The core competencies focus on leadership/management and entrepreneurial development, technical skills, life skills, farming and early childhood development.

Networx has trained thousands of learners through the various programmes that they offer but realize that training alone that does not include a framework that includes mentorship and work opportunities will be ineffective. Therefore, all training happens within a social economic development model that leads towards either job readiness and work placement, entrepreneurial businesses or supplement income. Networx, is a subsidiary of the Siyakholwa Group (Pty) Ltd umbrella and is registered as a Section 21 company (REG: 2013/0307966/08) and has full accreditation with the ETDP SETA. Our accreditation number is 10664 and registration number is 2257. Networx also partners with the Master Artisan Academy that is a SETA-accredited training provider (MERSETA No: 17-QA/ACC/0536/1.

The Siyakholwa group believe that some of the current development models and dependency on government funding and grants is not a sustainable model and some cases counterproductive.

The primary purpose of Siyakholwa Business will be to set up a cluster of sustainable social enterprises and services for profit which enable marginalized communities in South Africa and beyond to grasp opportunities and overcome poverty and joblessness.

Currently the Qobo Qobo Essential Oils is the sole entity under Siyakholwa Business. However, other proposed future businesses include: Bee Keeping, Peaches/Jam Making, Maize Milling, Metal Work, and Management Services.
